About Freezer Focus

Freezer Focus publishes freezer reviews and freezer guides written from the manufacturer’s own published specifications and documentation. We do not physically test freezers, and every review says so.

What this site is

A freezer listing gives you a capacity in cubic feet, a defrost type, an energy figure, a temperature range, a set of dimensions and sometimes a garage rating, and leaves you to work out whether any of it matters for your household. The reviews here take one model at a time and read those numbers for what they imply: whether 7 cubic feet is a quarter of a beef or a month of ready meals, whether manual defrost means a Saturday every year or something you will never do, whether a freezer without a garage rating will stop freezing in a cold garage in January.

Alongside the reviews the site carries guides — on choosing a size, chest against upright, defrosting, organising, power cuts, running costs and freezing food safely — that are written from the same sources and the published guidance of food-safety authorities.

The site covers chest, upright, compact & mini and garage-ready freezers. Each review sits in one of those categories, and the categories are what the navigation is built around.

What we do not do

We do not fill freezers, log their temperatures, measure their noise, time a defrost or meter their electricity. No freezer described here has run in a room of ours. A review on this site is a reading of what the manufacturer publishes, written for someone deciding whether that model fits their space and their food, and we would rather say that plainly than imply hands-on experience we do not have.

We do not publish star ratings, review counts, or exact prices. Where a manufacturer has not published a specification, a review says so instead of guessing.

Who writes this

Nathan Brooks, Editor, is the byline on every review. Nathan is an editorial name rather than a person you could look up, and we would rather say so than let a fabricated biography do work it has not earned. There are no trade credentials behind it, and there should not be: a site that states on every page that it does not test freezers has no business presenting an expert as its author.

What stands behind a review is the method, which is written down, and the manufacturer’s published figures, which you can check.

What changed in 2026

For its first year this site reviewed whatever appeared under a freezer search, which meant mini fridges with no freezer, an ice maker and freezer organizer bins were reviewed alongside freezers. In September 2026 we went through all 129 pages and removed 13 from search — mini fridges without a freezer compartment, a display refrigerator, an ice maker, a can cooler, a fridge stand and freezer organizer bins. The 116 pages that remain are freezers. The removed pages still exist for anyone who arrives at them, but they are no longer what this site is about and we no longer ask search engines to index them.

Browse by type

  • Chest freezers — Top-opening boxes that hold the cold, from 3.5 to 20 cubic feet.
  • Upright freezers — Front-opening cabinets with shelves, frost-free or manual defrost.
  • Compact & mini freezers — Under 3.5 cubic feet: for a flat, a dorm, a garage bench or the car.
  • Garage-ready freezers — Rated to keep freezing in an unheated space, and the convertibles that switch to a fridge.

Corrections

If a specification in a review is wrong — the manufacturer restated it, the listing changed, or we misread it — it is worth more to us to know than to look right. The contact page says what makes a correction actionable.
